Today I ould like to share my pics of Cancale and Saint Malo with you! We visited these cities on the second day of our trip through the Bretagne and the Normandie in the North of France 🙂

Cancale is knon for its oister bancs! You can buy and enjoy them directly on the beach!

Saint Malo has a beautiful architecture and an impressive fortification all around the old town.

In october I made a Trip to some spots in the North of France, the Bretagne and Normandie with my chéri and his family 🙂

For those who missed the first part of the story, here you’ll find my pics of the abbey of Mont Saint Michel 🙂

So the second day we went visiting Cancale and Saint Malo. Eating oisters directly on the beach was on our mandatory To-Do-List. We got the tip from the driver of the Horse buggy who drove us to the Mont Saint Michel the day ago 🙂 It always helps referring to the locals to find the best spots!

Where to find it

As our hotel was still near the Mont, we just drove along the coast until Cancale, which is just across the bay:

And this is Cancale, nice isn’t it?

Two braves… despite the beautiful weather, the temperature was very cold 🙂

At the end of the promenade we finally arrived to the little oister market. We bought some wine, bread and salted butter in the next “épicerie” and got six douzen oisters before settling on a nice little table just at the beach! What an experience!! This was soooo cool, eating delicious oisters directly on the beach, with a glass of white wine and the lovely view on the sea 🙂

We had such a luck to get the only table near the beach. But the tribune ould have been just nice as well 🙂

The beach in front of the stairs was covered with oister shells which mostly are swept away with the next high tide. What remains is cleaned… I never walked on oister shells 🙂

After this delicious meal we headed west to join Saint Malo, which is about 40km (25 miles) away. We took the road along the coast to admire the beautiful landscapes 🙂

Saint Malo is a very pretty city beside the sea which is known for its impressive fortification. The town wall goes all around the old historical city and it took us a pretty promenade of about 2 hours to go one time around! On the one side of the wall you will have view on the old town, on the other hand you’ll have the sea… so pretty!
